The enchanting Northern Lights
One of the main reasons for this trip was to try and experience the Northern Lights. The trip was via a Viking cruise ship sailing north from Bergen in Norway, up the coast north into the Arctic Circle. Unfortunately, bad weather affected the itinerary and the ship only made it as far as Trondheim.
The really good news is that the lights were visible on 2 nights. However, taking photos from a moving ship isn’t ideal! This was one of those ‘Walter Mitty’ movie scenes when it was best to be in the moment rather than hang in there for the ultimate shot.
The cruise itself was great and there was one place we visited called Eidfjord that was simply stunning. A small village deep in the Norwegian Fjords, the weather was beautiful and quite unexpected as it wasn’t on the original itinerary. Highly recommended as a place to visit.
